Great job by Haltwhistle Walking Festival! Over a week of gruelling walks in the most impressive walking area of Britain. People travel from afar to be part of this festival and appropriately they held the social night on Saturday at the Comrades Hall. Now for a newbie, like myself, I took on the challenge of this evening with some trepidation – but I should not have!  It was a brilliant evening of fun (in the form of the fellow walkers); entertainment (in the form of a band and singer with an “edge”) and some great food (by the famous Carol of the Comrades club). I can see why that club is favourite for events.

This walk was amazing – we kept a good pace and found ourselves on Hadrian’s Wall looking down at Scotland!

Unfortunately, I underestimated my walking capabilities following a broken foot last year, and am paying the price today. But it was worth it. Could there be scope for an art walk next year? Some drawing and sketching en route followed by a session at The Whistle Art Stop? Could be good! I’ll propose it.
