It’s over a year since we first claimed that we would be opening an exhibition space to support new, emerging and local contemporary artists and finally that day has arrived! Thanks to a £10,000 capital expenditure grant from Northumberland County Council via Coun. Ian Hutchinson’s member’s allowance. In the process, we attracted quite a bit of media attention including BBC Look North and our MP, Guy Opperman came along to support the start of the work.

Less than a month on and the local contractors are almost finished. The new electrics are having their final wires connected today. The exhibition space has had one coat of white wash and two more to follow before next weekend when we will be hanging the first show. It’s such a huge pleasure to have OFF QUAY arthouse and studios and in particular James Routledge curate this exhibition of new artists from Newcastle. James has promised a variety of work responding to the title of their show ‘Con’.

On Wednesday 27th March from 5pm we will have an Open Evening where you can come and join the Trustees, artists and young people for refreshments and a look at the new Shed where we will be holding workshops, clubs and exhibitions. The exhibition will run until 23rd April.
